Senior CPC Official Meets German Party Delegation

Ding Guangen, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, met Wednesday with a delegation of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SDPG), headed by its national executive secretary Matthias Machnig.

Extending welcome to the German guests, Ding, also a member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, reiterated the willingness of CPC to strengthen exchange and cooperation with SDPG.

Ding also briefed the guests on China's political and economic situation and the work of CPC.

Machnig thanked Ding for the meeting, noting that the meeting demonstrates that the Chinese side attaches great importance to its ties with SDPG. SDPG also wishes to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with CPC so as to help further the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries, he added.

At the invitation of CPC, Machnig and his party arrived here Tuesday for a five-day visit.

Founded in 1863, SDPG is the biggest political party with longest history in Germany.
