Beijing Development Zone Attracts 3.3 Billion US Dollars in Investment in 9 Years
The Beijing Economic and Technical Development Zone, which was established nine years ago, has now had 891 domestic and overseas enterprises, with a total investment of 3.3 billion US dollars, according the director of the zone's management commission.
The pillar industries in the development zone in the southeastern suburbs of Beijing are on the sectors of electronics, information, bio-technologies, new medicines and new materials.
The World Top 500 Companies like Nokia, GM, Lucent, Unilever and IBM have also set up 33 enterprises in the development zone.
The zone's GDP and output value will reach 28 billion yuan (3.4 billion US dollars) and 100 billion yuan (12 billion US dollars) in 2005, according to the director.
