WTO Chief: China's Entry Into WTO 'Historic Affair'

General Director of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Mike Moore stressed Tuesday in San Jose that China's impending participation into WTO is a historic affair.

In an interview Moore said that he had predicted China would become a formal WTO member last year but piles of legal documents hampered this process. However, China's participation is 'a great affair' to WTO.

Moore is on a Latin American tour around Costa Rica, Colombia, Brazil, Guatemala and Mexico to listen to opinions of different social sectors in WTO member countries.

In the next round of negotiations at Doha, Qatar, issues related to agriculture, investment, unfair trade practices, and technical assistance will be talked about.
