Denmark Sails into Semi-finals at Universiade Men's Volleyball

Denmark outed hosts China in straight sets here Tuesday to enter the men's volleyball semi- finals at the world university games.

China, who ranked 11th in the last games in Palma of Italy two years ago, could not cope with the Danes' powerful serving and spiking, losing at 25-17, 25-14, 25-14, in 70 minutes.

The match saw the Danes, who have team-worked together for one year for the games, to dominate the game with their powerful jump serving and sound blocking, leading all the way to clinch the first two sets at 25-17 and 25-14.

The Chinese, who lost only one set in five matches in the games, tried to turn the table in the third set. But under the pressure from the Danes, the game continued to be a one-sided match in favour of the Danes, who sealed the set 25-14 and the match.

China have not entered top eight since they clinched the runners-up in 1987 Universiade in Yugoslavia, best result they achieved in the games.
