Rogge Offers Profile of Olympic Organizing Committee ChiefIOC President Jacques Rogge has offered his advice to Beijing, revealing the basic requirements for the president of the future Olympic organizing committee. The president of the organizing committee should be "very knowledgeable in general organization", he said at the airport after ending a two-day visit here. The second quality is that "he has to have influence and confidence at different levels of government because you have to obtain a lot from the government", he added. The last is that "he has a love for sports", said Rogge. While revealing his criteria for selecting a organizing committee president, he stressed that the decision should be made by Beijing themselves. "It is not the business of the IOC to propose someone, but I am quite sure that the Chinese friends could appoint someone who has all that qualities," he said. After being awarded the 2008 Olympic Games on July 13 in Moscow, Beijing promised to set up the organizing committee within a period of five months as required by the IOC. They are currently paving the way for the future organizing committee as a preparatory panel for the organizing committee has been set up. Rogge, who had a meeting this morning with local officials, showed his satisfaction with how Beijing has got along with the preparation. "You have worked a lot. During the meeting this morning, we realized that a lot of preparation have been under way." "I am quite sure that the final announcement of the organizing committee will be coming pretty soon," he said.
