Chinese Textile Entrepreneurs Urged to Invest in Bangladesh

Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) Tuesday invited Chinese textile entrepreneurs to invest in the apparel industry in the Country.

BGMEA President Kutubuddin Ahmed made the call while calling on Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Hu Qianwen at his office in Dhaka Tuesday.

He recalled that ready-made garment industry of Bangladesh imports textile fabrics worth over one billion U.S. dollars per annum from China.

The BGMEA president said his organization would request the government to establish a separate zone for Chinese investors if they are interested to set up the industries.

In reply, the Chinese ambassador said that discussion and exchange of opinion between the textile and ready-made garment entrepreneurs of the two countries will enable the sector to face challenges of economic globalization.
