China Virtually Nails Women's Single Title, Zhang

China virtually nailed women's singles title, said Chinese table tennis team leader Zhang Yufeng on Tuesday after the quarter-finals at the Universiade.

China booked three out of four semifinal berths.

China's top two women paddlers Zhang Yining and Niu Jianfeng cruised into the semifinals with 3-0 victories except Zhang Yuying lost one set against Takahashi Mikie of Japan in the quarter- finals.

Another Chinese young paddler Tie Yana upset Kim Moo-Kyo 3-0 in the third round and waltzed through quarter-finals against Kim Mi- Yong the from Democratic People's Republic of Korea 3-0.

"China has three out of four berths in the semifinals. What else can be better than this?" said Zhang Yufeng. "We will pocket the title."

The only non-Chinese player in the semifinals is Ryu Ji-Hye, who beat Pavlovich Veronica of Belarus 3-1.
