Auto Fair Harvests Contracts Worth 2.2 Billion Yuan

Nineteen contracts signed during the ongoing China Changchun International Automobile Fair has resulted in a total investment of 2.2 billion yuan (268 million US dollars).

Five of the 19 contracts were signed with foreign business partners. A company from Singapore will invest 3.61 million US dollars to produce audio-visual equipment for vehicles.

The Second China Changchun International Automobile Fair was opened on August 24 in Changchun, capital of northeast China's Jilin Province, known as the cradle of China's automobile industry. It is scheduled to run till August 29.

More than 450 automobile producers from home and abroad have participated in the fair, bring with them the latest models.

The fair receives about 200,000 visitors each day on average, according to the organizing committee.

It has been announced that the third auto fair would be held in Changchun in August 2002.
