China Wins Gold of Women's Team Foil

Meng Jie edged world No. 1 fencer Valentina Vezzali of Italy to help China win the title of women's team foil fencing at the 21st World University Games.

China, featuring Meng, Zhang Jie and Liu Yuan, defeated Italy, which won the team foil title at Sydney Olympics 2000, 44-43 in the fierce final.

Meng, who lost women's individual foil gold to Vezzali, also took revenge herself on the Italian swordswoman.
