Investigation into Biggest Smuggling Case Put on Display

Smuggling Show in Xiamen Draws Visitors
An exhibition showcasing the investigation into China's biggest smuggling case opened Monday in Xiamen, this port city in east China's Fujian Province.

The Minister of Supervision He Yong, Commissioner of the General Administration of Customers Mou Xinsheng, and Secretary of Fujian Provincial Committee of the CPC Song Defu presided the opening ceremony.

Around 300 people became the first visitors to the exhibition at the so-called Red Mansion, a luxury building where Lai Changxing, kingpin of the smuggling group masterminded his illegal business and entertained corrupt officials with feasts, money and women.

The exhibition disclosed in detail the investigation into the case.

On exhibition are sandbags for boxing, barbells and other exercise tools used by Lai to train bodyguards, as well as gold bricks, luxury cars, art works and even a piece of tiger skin, all used by Lai as bribes.

There is also a three meter high by five meter wide black wall on the third floor, on which is a long list of criminals involved in the case.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Minister He said the exhibition displays the Chinese government's determination to carry the war against corruption to the full end, and to win the trust of the Chinese people.

He stressed the need to use the exhibition as a warning to Party members and government officials for the promotion of a clean party and government.
