IOC President Rogge to Visit Beijing

International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Jacques Rogge is scheduled to arrive in Beijing Monday morning for a two-day visit to the host city of the ongoing 21st University Games and the 2008 Olympic Games.

Rogge, voted the eighth IOC president on July 16 at the 112th IOC Session in Moscow, will be on his first visit to an world multi-sports games after taking the helm of the Olympic ship.

Senior officials from a preparatory panel for the Organizing Committee of the 2008 Olympic Games will hold talks with the IOC president on the city's preparations for the Olympics.

Rogge will also visit competition venues and the Main Press Center of the University Games.

Rogge, 59, was handed the presidency after Juan Antonio Samaranch retired after 21-year rule.
