Four Missing After Boats Collide on Yangtze

Four people are missing after two vessels collided on the Yangtze River mouth early Sunday morning, causing one boat to sink immediately.

All 15 people on board the fishing boat "Zhejiaoyuyun 179" were tossed into the water after the boat collided with the cargo ship "Green Beryl". Eleven of the people from the fishing boat were later saved by the Green Beryl, but the other four are still missing.

Upon being informed of the accident, the Shanghai Maritime Safety Administration (SMSA) immediately sent out a vessel to the rescue, but so far only a life raft has been found.

Preliminary investigations have uncovered that the weather was quite windy and cloudy, and the visibility poor when the accident occurred.

The search and rescue work was continuing at press time.
