Traffic Accident Under Investigation

The State Council has sent an investigation group to Fengxian County, in northwest China's Shaanxi Province to deal with a serious traffic accident, which occurred on August 23, claiming 32 lives and injuring 18 people.

A double-decker bus, carrying 50 people, fell from a 30-meter cliff into the Jialing River in the county at around 9:50 p.m. that day. The bus was confirmed to belong to the Longnan Transportation Company of neighboring Gansu Province.

The local government immediately sent rescuers and medical workers to save the injured following the bus accident.

The investigation group comprises officials and experts from the Ministries of Public Security, Communications, Supervision and the All-China Federation of Trade Unions.
