Zhu Benqiang, the fourth seed and world No. 540, beat Uganda's Edgar Kasenene 6-1, 6-0 at the newly-built Beijing Muxiyuan Tennis Center.

Li Na, the second seed and rated 240th, eliminated unseeded Greek player Argiro Zika 6-0, 6-0 at the sun-bathed central court of the Tennis Center.

Both matches are lopsided and lasted less than half an hour.
