China, Myanmar Sign Economic, Technical Cooperation Agreement

Governments of the People's Republic of China and the Union of Myanmar reached an agreement Sunday in Yangon on economic and technical cooperation.

Representing their respective governments, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Myanmar Deputy Minister of Rail Transportation U Thaung Lwin signed the agreement.

U Thaung Lwin said Myanmar and China have traditional ties of friendly relations and cooperation that have been growing in the spirit of paukphaw (fraternal) friendship. He expressed thanks for the aid China provided to Myanmar and expressed the confidence that Myanmar-China friendly and cooperative ties will be more strengthened and everlasting.

Wang Yi arrived here Thursday at the invitation of the Myanmar Foreign Ministry to attend a diplomacy consultation between the two countries.

The signing was witnessed by Myanmar Minister of Rail Transportation U Pan Aung and Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Li Jinjun.
