Senior CPC Official on Public Security WorkA senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Saturday stressed that Chinese President Jiang Zemin's concept of the "Three Represents" should be earnestly followed in the management of public security work.Luo Gan, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Central Committee for Comprehensive Management of Public Security, made this remark at a national meeting on comprehensive management of public security work which closed Saturday. Under "Three Represents" thought, the CPC represents the development trends of advanced productive forces, the orientation of advanced culture, and the fundamental interests of the overwhelming majority of the Chinese people. Luo said that all the departments concerned should closely follow the current public security situation and strive to do a better job in fighting various crimes. He asked law enforcement departments at various levels to step up crackdown on criminal offences and gangs, and sternly punish according to law those committing major crimes.
