Djafarov Wins Men's Judo -66kg Gold at Universiade
Russian Magame Djafarov Saturday grabbed the gold of the men's judo under 66kg category by upsetting Murat Kalikulov of Uzekistan in the final.
Djafarov, silver-medalist of the 1996 World Youth Judo Championships, defeated Kalikulov with a heavy throw for ippon.
Franck Bellard of France and Yugoslavia's Milos Mijalkovic shared the bronze medal.
Cuban Yordani Arencibia, bronze medalist of the 2001 World Judo Championships, suffered an early upset by Frederic Georgery of Belgium.
