Chief of General Staff Meets Nepalese Guests

Fu Quanyou, chief of the General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, met Friday with Kumar Bahadur Fudong, master general of Ordnance of Royal Nepalese Army, and his party.

Fu, also a member of the Central Military Commission, recalled his Nepal tour last year. He said that the friendship between the Chinese and Nepalese peoples have lasted for thousands of years, and the two countries have always supported each other and conducted friendly cooperation.

He in particular mentioned Chinese President Jiang Zemin's visit to Nepal in 1996, during which the leaders of the two countries reached consensus on building good-neighborly partnership for generations, which furthers the bilateral ties.

He noted that the Chinese and Nepalese armed forces have maintained frequent contacts, and with their joint efforts, the friendly relations between the two militaries will expand.

Fudong said that Nepal and China have maintained good relations in the military field. During this visit he saw China's rapid economic growth, and Nepal hopes to conduct more cooperation with China, he added.

Fudong also expressed gratitude for China's support for Nepal over the years.
