Chinese Top Lawmaker Meets Arafat

Li Peng, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, met Friday with Yasser Arafat, president of the State of Palestine and chairman of the Palestinian National Authority.

The meeting at the Great Hall of the People is still going on at press time.

Arafat arrived in Bejing early Friday morning as guest of Chinese President Jiang Zemin.
