Chinese Coach Not Surprise at Russia's Fiasco in Gymnastics Team Competition

Huang Yubin, coach of Chinese Gymnastics men's team, said Thursday night that he was not surprised at Russian gymnasts' performance which saw the team crash out of top eight at the Universiade gymnastics team finals.

Addressing a press conference after his team won the team title of the Universiade gymnastics tournament this evening, Huang said: "There is only one Olympic gymnast in the Russian team at the games."

"Others are unexperienced new guys," he added.

During this evening's final competition, the Russian gymnasts made so many errors that any team doing like this is unlikely to achieve good results, the Chinese said.

Replying to a question about Russian team's performance in the individual competitions, Huang said that it is very difficult for this Russian men's team to clinch even a single gold in the Beijing Universiade.

The strength of the Russian team is remarkably weaker than the Russian national team competing in the Olympics and the Gymnastics World Championships, he added.

Russia won eight golds in the last Universiade gymnastics tournament, including six by its women's team.
