Tianjin Builds Largest Automobile Trading Center in North China

Tianjin, one of China's leading port cities, is building an automobile trading center believed to be the largest of its kind in northern China.

The automobile trading center, located in the Tianjin Bonded Zone, is expected to attract major overseas and domestic automobile makers when it starts operation at the end of this year, a local government official said.

Taking advantage of its adjacency to water transport facilities, Tianjin Port imported 18,600 motor vehicles last year, accounting for half of China's total automobile imports. Its automobile imports in the first five months of this year exceeded 12,000, making up 55 percent of the country's total, said Zhao Gang, an official of the automobile city in the Tianjin Bonded Zone.

The Tianjin Bonded Zone has dealt with motor trade for more than a decade. Famous brands of automobile made in Japan, France, the Republic of Korea, Germany and the United States can be seen here. The automobiles in the bonded zone sell to as far away as the northwest, northeast and north China.
