China Sets Up Int'l Chemical Industrial Park

An international chemical industrial park was set up Thursday in Zhangjiagang City in east China's Jiangsu Province.

Representatives of a number of world chemical industrial giants including Du Pont, Dow, Chevron, BASF, Shell-B.P. and Asahi Kasei were present at the founding ceremony held in Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu.

According to Zhou Weiqiang, mayor of Zhangjiagang, the Yangtze River International Chemnical Industrial Part will mainly develop petroleum chemicals and fine chemical products and handle chemical products' circulation.

Zhou said the planned total land area of the new industrial park is 6.64 sq km, and a total of 650 million US dollars of investment will be targeted at the park this year.
