DPR Korea Faces China in Women's Table Tennis Team Semis

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea advanced to women's table tennis team semifinals at the 21st Universiade after beating Russia on Friday.

The three Russian paddlers were obviously unfamiliar with DPR Korean style and fell behind all the way and lost in straight sets after an early resistance.

DPR Korea will take on China, who defeated France early at night, in the semifinals.

South Korea came one game down to beat Chinese Taipei 3-1.

South Korean Kim Moo-Kyo surprisingly lost to Tsui Shtu-Li of Chinese Taipei 2-1, but the gap of every set was less than three points.

Then South Korean top player Ryu Ji-Hye and Oh Yoon-Kyeong beat their rivals to put their side 2-1 ahead.

Ryu Ji-Hye beat Tsui Shtu-Li in the fourth game, 23-21, 15-21, 21-11, to secure a semifinal spot.

Japan, which also rallied from one game down to overcome Belarus 3-1, will clash with South Korea in the semifinal.
