A total of 30 passengers were confirmed dead and 19 injured in a traffic accident that occurred Thursday night in Fengxian County, northwest China's Shaanxi Province, local sources said Friday morning.

A bus, carrying 49 passengers, fell from a 30-meter cliff into the Jialing River at around 9:40 p.m. when it was running on the No. 316 state highway. The bus belonged to the Longnan Transportation Company of neighboring Gansu Province.

Local governments immediately sent rescuers and medical workers to save the injured following the bus accident.
