Chinese Women Shoot Down Peruvians 128-37

The hot-shot Chinese women buried the inexperienced Peruvians 128-37 with 3-pointers to stay atop in Group A in the women's basketball competition of the World University Games on Friday.

Shooting guard Miao Lijie was 6-12 from behind the arc to score 20 points and grabbed six rebounds for China. The whole team drilled in 20 out of 56 3-pointer attempts.

Center Chen Nan chipped in 30 points, 12-17 in the field, and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the game.

Peru's Ruiz Tatinana and Salazar Natalia had team-high 10 points each.

Miao Bo opened the game for China with a 3-pointer in just 10 seconds before Peru stole a brief lead at 4-3, the only time the Peruvians overtook opponents.

Miao Bo had 10 out of her 13 points and Hu Xiaotao added 8 out of her 16 points in the first quarter to rocket China to 32-15.

The Peruvians scored only six points in the second quarter and four in the third before China past 100 points with point guard Pan Wei's 3-pointer earlier in the fourth quarter. Pan had 16 points.

"We had some problems on defense at the very beginning of the game, but never looked back after we took the control," said Chinese head coach Gong Luming.
