Theme Set for APEC Finance Ministers Meeting

The 8th Finance Ministers Meeting of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (AFMM) will be held under the policy theme of "Growth with Restructuring, Stability and Equity," the Chinese organizers of the meeting said Thursday in Beijing.

The APEC Finance Ministers meeting is scheduled to be held in Suzhou, a well-known scenic city of east China's Jiangsu province, during September 8-9.

According to the organizers, the meeting will focus on three key subjects. The first one is to carry out dialogue on macroeconomic policies so as to promote sustainable economic growth. The second one is to step up economic reform and restructuring so as to provide a stable, solid foundation for sustainable economic growth. The last subject is to promote economic growth on a just and fair basis so as to bring the benefit of globalization to more people.

Representatives from the member economies of APEC will attend the meeting in Suzhou, discussing how to strengthen dialogue and cooperation on macroeconomic, fiscal and financial issues.

On September 6-7, the APEC Finance and Central Bank Deputies Meeting will be held in Suzhou ahead of the finance ministers meeting.

The APEC Finance Group Meeting will be held in the same time as the finance ministers meeting.
