Six Die in 100 Car Pile-up on Shanghai-Beijing Expressway

Six motorists were killed and another 15 injured when more than 100 cars smashed into each other in foggy weather along the newly opened Shanghai-Beijing expressway, it was reported on Thursday.

The accident occurred early Wednesday morning in Cangshan county, eastern Shandong province, as car after car collided into each other along the fog-shrouded highway, China News Service said.

Traffic along the road remained snarled for some 10 hours, it said.

More than 20 cars "were completely destroyed" in the wreck along the highway that was officially opened earlier this year, the report said.
