Thai Princess Visits TibetThai Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn said Thursday that she was impressed with the beauty of Tibet before concluding a week-long visit to the autonomous region in southwest China."Tibet is very beautiful," said the princess in Chinese after visiting lamaseries, museums, archives, farmers' homes and the well-known Norbu-Linkag Park. During her first visit to Tibet, where she for the first time had personal experience with Tibetan culture, religion and customs, the princess took detailed notes on each occasion. She said she will write a diary-styled book on her experiences in Tibet, introducing the reality to Thai people, she said. Princess Sirindhorn was warmly welcomed wherever she went. The princess presented portraits of Padmasambhava, the famous Indian Buddhist, to Tibetan lamaseries, and made other donations. She also wrote the four Chinese characters "Zhen Gui Shi Liao" (valuable history records) after visiting an archive on Tibetan history from the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368) to the founding of the People's Republic of China. The princess showed great interest in Tibetan Buddhism, history and culture.
