HK Financial Secretary Returns From Beijing

Hong Kong Financial Secretary Antony Leung got back to Hong Kong Wednesday from his two-day trip to Beijing.

Upon his arrival at Hong Kong International Airport, Leung told reporters that he discussed with the various central government departments on how to increase the number of visitors from the mainland, covering both business visitors as well as tourists.

He said the increase in such numbers would be extremely positive for Hong Kong, particularly for the economy.

During his visit, Leung discussed quite a number of issues, including the number of visitors, the duration of their stay, the validity period of their passes as well as streamlining the workload of such applications.

Leung said he reached consensus with the relevant departments on almost every topic.

He said both sides are extremely supportive of such moves in general, and these issues will go through further discussions on details and need approval from various parties including the State Council.
