Dong Xinbin Solo ShowSponsored by the Foreign Arts Exhibition Center under Ministry of Culture, the Nice Views to the South of Yangtze River ¡ªDong Xin Bin Chinese Art Exhibition was held from August 7 to 12 in the China State Fine Arts Gallery, according to Beijing Review.At 15, Dong Xinbin studied under artist Qin Guliu. In 1979, he became the sole postgraduate of master Liu Haisu. His teacher Liu Haisu thought highly of him and his works. Dong has deep essential techniques for poetry, calligraphy and sculpture. He also studied Western and Oriental philosophy, literature and aesthetics, and has a deep understanding of the difference between the two cultures. A notable artist, Dong breaks away from the tradition, but is prudent in innovation. In 1986, Dong and eight other artists from Jiangsu Province held the Jiangsu Nine Artists Painting Exhibition in the Central Fine Arts Academy, which attracted great attention. In 1992, he was invited to America to give lectures on art. During 15 years of intensive study, Dong created a new world of painting. In this world, there are as much visual beauty as profound implied meanings. At Dong Xinbin's recent exhibition, more than 60 works were on show and the exhibition consisted of three sections : "South China in Ink and Wash", "Green South China" and "Ever-changing South China". The works were Dong's main achievements over the past 10 years. |
