Athletes from 168 Delegations March in at Opening Ceremony

Athletes from 168 delegations took part in the parade at the opening ceremony of the 21st World University Games Wednesday evening.

Led by Chinese girls in ethnic attire, holding guide boards painted with logos of bird species, athletes from 169 countries and regions entered into the Workers' Stadium in alphabetical order.

Albania was the first to march in the Workers' Stadium, with the logo of campo hawk and China, host country for the Universiade, was the last to enter with the logo of golden pheasant.

A total of 265 Chinese athletes will compete in 157 events in 12 sports and fight for China's first ever overall title at the University Games, which runs from August 22 to September 1.

According to the organizers, more than 6,000 athletes will compete for 168 gold medals in 12 sports at the games.
