Lee Teng-hui Preaches Again Japanese PM's Shrine Visit Natural

While meeting with Japanese Diet members and scholars in Taiwan August 21, Lee Teng-hui went so far as to say that "Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi's visit to Yasukuni Shrine is a matter of course, just like Taiwan officials' paying tribute to martyrs", thus once again presenting his consistent features of "fawning on Japan".

According to Taiwan's Central News Agency, in their talks the two sides did not touch on the development of Taiwan's political situation, nor the topic regarding whether or not Lee Teng-hui would pay another visit to Japan, they exchanged views on the situation regarding Asia-Pacific security and the development of Taiwan-Japan relations.

Earlier, a report carried in Japanese Weekly Shincho said while being interviewed by a media reporter, Lee Teng-hui said that the Japanese Prime Minister's visit to the Shrine is only natural, and he himself also wanted to go and have a look there some day.

Lee's deep feeling for Japan is known to everybody in Taiwan, he also admits that he was Japanese with a Japanese name called Iwasato Masao in the past .

During his 10-year reign in Taiwan, he never actively handled such matters as comfort women and Diaoyutai. What is most contemptible is that as "president" of the "Republic of China", he went so far as to stand on the Japanese side and hold that Japan had no need to offer much apology to China.
