Online Stock Trading Tops 18.3 Billion Yuan in First Half Year

Online A-share and B-share transaction volume topped RMB 18.3 billion in the first six months of this year in China, an increase of 127 percent over last year. The online turnover accounted for 21.1 percent of the total volume of trading concluded on a commission basis.

Online securities trading has witnessed rapid growth in the past few years, with sound prospect forecasted in the coming years.

Last year, Guangdong Securities purchased the financial website stock2000dotcom from Shenzhen Prosperity and its online stock trading volume has amounted to 7 percent of its total stock turnover by now.

Huatai Securities, for the first time, ranked among the top 10 brokerages in the first half of this year, with trading volume of online stocks exceeding 21.2 billion yuan last year, making up 12.5 percent of its total transaction volume.
