2001 China Arts Exposition
The 2001 China Arts Exposition was held in Beijing on August 24-28, according to Beijing Review.
This year, the event paid more attention to the academic quality of the exhibits than ever before. As a result, the organizing committee established two themes. The first one was Traditional Charm-Centenary of Chinese Calligraphy and Painting, which allowed exhibition visitors to personally watch some excellent works of great masters such as Qi Baishi, Xu Beihong, Zhang Daqian and Fu Baoshi. The second one was the Future of Arts. A batch of works of students from various fine arts institutes and universities were shown.
An independent gallery area was added to the event this year. It consisted of various representative art galleries throughout the country. In order to promote their important role in collection and trade of arts works, the organizer strengthened publicity of these art galleries' collections and images, which met positive responds from overseas galleries, collectors and auction houses.
Approved by the Ministry of Culture, the China Arts Exposition has been held annually since 1993. In addition to a gala of the arts circle, it has become an important event for participants to seek commercial opportunities in recent years.
