Universiade Pushes Forward Athletic Sports in Macao, Says Team OfficialMacao of China hopes the 21st World Universiade will enhance the level of athletic sports in the region, an official of the Macao delegation said in Beijing on August 20."Like other delegations, to win the gold medal is also our dream," said Lu Zhaoyong, manager of the Macao athletics team. "But in order to play a successful host of the 2005 Eastern Asian Games, Macao has been engaged in promoting athletic sports in recent years." said Lu who looked much younger for his age. "Therefore it is of greater importance to increase the competition experiences of our athletes and push forward the athletic sports in Macao through the Games." The 4th Eastern Asian Games will be held in Macao in 2005, the first multi-event games hosted by the special administrative region. Zhuang Jiamin, a graduate from Beijing Physical Culture University, said he would return to Macao for work after the Universiade. "I want to be a coach and devote myself to the development of athletic sports of Macao." The 4x100m relayer told reporters. The Macao delegation consists of 85 members, of which 56 are athletes featuring athletics, swimming, judo, tennis, fencing and table tennis.
