Workers' Stadium Ready for Universiade Opening CeremonyThe Worker's Stadium, the main site for the 21st Universiade, has been ready for the opening ceremony which will be held on August 22.According to Sun Piping, one of the choreographers for the Opening Ceremony, the all staff members have been waiting for the moment of opening. "Everything for the opening ceremony is ready. We are now making it perfect," he said. In order to make the Worker's Stadium an international standard one, several renovations have been made. All the 80,000 seats in the stadium have been replaced by newly- designed ones and two rows have been specially built for the disabled on the ground level. The main stage for the opening ceremony was constructed in early June, two months before the kick-off of the global students' sports gala. The most vagarious sight on the main stage is a swimming pool. 22 meters in length, 15 in width and four in depth, it allows actors to perform above water and under water. According to the organizers, there will be diving and water ballet show during the three-hour opening ceremony. Construction of the main flame tower started in March. It consists of five pillars in different color, which signifies the five continents, and one 6.5-meter diameter disc-shaped cauldron, symbolizes the flame for the Light of the New Century. The flame tower, 13 meters high and weighting 18 tons, is the highest in the history of Universiade.
