Books Reach Tibet As Gift For Youngsters

A total of 100,000 books were transported on August 20 to children of Lhasa, capital city of China's Tibet Autonomous Region.

These books, a free gift for Tibetan youngsters, were donated by the China Youth Press and the China Juveniles & Children's Publishing House.

China Southwest Airines shipped the books free of charge.

China's central government has so far invested more than 5 billion yuan (some 600 million US dollars) for the education of the ethnic groups in Tibet, and at present there are 960 schools of various kinds, enrolling local youngsters.
