Vice President Stresses Importance of Jiang's Speech
A group of experts and high-ranking officials will be dispatched across China to publicize the speech delivered by Chinese President and general secretary of the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee Jiang Zemin on July 1 to mark the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Party.
Vice President Hu Jintao, also member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, recently met with the members of the group.
Hu stressed during the meeting that Jiang's important speech is a guiding Marxist document with far-reaching significance.
He told the group members that to earnestly study, publicize and carry out the spirit of the speech is an important political task for the whole country right now.
He asked the members to correctly explain the meaning of the speech, and to capture its true essence.
He also asked the members to link the spirit of the speech closely to the situation of reform, opening-up and party building to answer questions from the public so as to guide them to a better understanding of Jiang's words.
A lecture was given by a leading member of the group here Monday, attended by 1,400 high ranking officials from all major departments of the central authorities.
Ding Guangen, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Committee's Publicity Department, addressed the lecture and urged the Party's publicity organs at various levels to vigorously facilitate the study and publicity of Jiang's speech.
