ACFTU President Meets African Delegation
Wei Jianxing, president of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU), met Monday with a delegation from the Organization of African Trade Union Unity (OATUU) led by its General Secretary Hassan Sunmonu.
Wei, also member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau and member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, said that the ACFTU and the OATUU have a traditional friendship, and their leaders have visited each other many times.
Meanwhile, their friendly and cooperative relations have developed steadily, added Wei.
He noted that the OATUU is a very important organization of trade unions in the world and plays an important role in African and world trade union movements.
Voicing that the ACFTU places much importance on the development of its relations with the OATUU, Wei said that it will further promote their friendly exchanges and cooperation in the new century.
Wei also briefed the delegation on China's political and economic situations and the ACFTU's work.
Sunmonu said that the ACFTU is the closest friend of the OATUU, and he appreciates China's great achievements in its reform and development drive.
He also voiced his support for China's entry into the World Trade Organization and his appreciation for the ACFTU's important role in China's economic achievements and social progress.
He stressed that the OATUU is ready to further its friendly exchanges and cooperation with the ACFTU.
The delegation is here at the invitation of the ACFTU.
