Chinese Vice-Premier Meets Kyrgyzstan Speaker of Lower HouseChinese Vice-Premier Qian Qichen met Monday with Altay Borubayev, speaker of the Assembly of People's Representative (Lower Chamber) of the Supreme Council of Kyrgyzstan.Qian noted that the bilateral relations between China and Kyrgyzstan have been growing smoothly over the past several years as mutual understanding and trust were promoted through close contacts of the two countries' high-level leaders. China appreciates Kyrgyzstan's support on the issues of Taiwan and anti-separatism, and will continue to back Kyrgyzstan's efforts in safeguarding national sovereignty and independence, and in maintaining social stability, he said. The vice premier pointed out that parliamentary exchanges between China and Kyrgyzstan have been acting as an important part of mutual relations, and Borubayev's visit will help promote the relations. Qian stressed China and Kyrgyzstan, both of which are members of the "Shanghai Cooperation Organization," should work jointly to strengthen the organization's role in maintaining regional safety and stability while achieving common prosperity. Borubayev spoke highly of the development of the bilateral relations in the political, economic and cultural areas between the two countries. He praised China's support to Kyrgyzstan's crackdown on separatism, extremism and terrorism in accordance with the consensus reached by the "Shanghai Cooperation Organization."
