Foreign Fencers Train in Beijing

The Laoshan Fencing Training Center in western suburbs of Beijing received first batches of foreign fencers for warm-up training.

Cuban and South African teams organized their regular training in the center, which is also headquarters of China's national fencing team. Cuban team consists of 14 fencers, including one who gained a gold at the 19th Universiade in 1997 in Italy.

A South African fencer said that the training conditions in Beijing were "very nice".

In addition, other teams from such as Finland and Israel also trained in the center.

The eight-day fencing competition at the 21st Universiade, which is scheduled to start on August 22 in Beijing, was regarded as nearing to the world level.
