China's Top Legislator Meets Kyrgyzstan Speaker of Lower House

China's Top Legislator Meets Kyrgyzstan Speaker
Li Peng, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), met Sunday with Altay Borubayev, speaker of the Assembly of People's Representative (Lower Chamber) of the Supreme Council of Kyrgyzstan.

Li noted that the bilateral relations between China and Kyrgyzstan have been growing smoothly over the past several years as the two have had good cooperation in areas of politics, economy and trade, science and technology and culture.

He said China pays great attention to developing the relations with Kyrgyzstan, and appreciates the stance of Kyrgyzstan on issues of Taiwan and Tibet. He stressed that China is ready to work with the Kyrgyzstan side and push forward bilateral relations both in political and economic areas.

"We believe that so long as the two sides make constructive cooperation in a friendly and pragmatic manner, and keep in mind the general trend of friendship, our relations will grow to an even higher level," Li said.

The chairman said parliamentary exchange between China and Kyrgyzstan can help promote the overall relations between the two countries, and therefore exchange between parliaments of the two countries should be strengthened at different levels.

Borubayev spoke highly of the development of the bilateral relations in political, economic and cultural areas between the two countries. He praised the meeting between state leaders of the two during meetings of the "Shanghai Cooperation Organization" in June this year as well as the political documents signed there on the crackdown on separatism, extremism and terrorism.

Borubayev said the documents are significant to the peace, security and stability of the entire region, and he thanked China' s support to Kyrgyzstan in fighting against the three forces.
