Sri Lankan Air Force Jet Crashes, Five Injured
A Russian-made military airplane of the Sri Lankan air force crashed on Saturday near the country's only international airport, some 30 kilometers north of capital Colombo, injuring five people, military sources said.
The ill-fated Russian-made Mig-27 jet fighter crashed into a house beside the main road from Negombo to Colombo, injuring five people on the ground. They were admitted into Negombo hospital, police said.
The jet was caught on fire when it crashed and completely destroyed. The whereabout of the pilot, a Ukrainian training instructor, is not immediately known.
