Flag-Raising for Georgia Held in Athletes' Village

The Georgian flag-rasing ceremony was held on Saturday morning in the 21st World University Games athletes' village.

Chef de mission of the Georgian delegation and two athletes attended the ceremony.

After Beijing vice mayor Zhang Mao extended his warm welcome to the guests, Mdzeluzi Giri, head of the delegation, expressed his thanks for Beijing's reception.

Giri said although this was his first time here, he loved the city very much.

The delegation chief credited Beijing athletes' village as the most beautiful one after he had been to the villages in Japan, Spain and Italy.

He said as a small country, Georgia was happy to be present at such major games.

The Georgian delegation, which has seven athletes, will compete in two sports.

The 21st Universiade will be held here from August 22 to September 1.
