Macao Heads to Compete in 21st World University Games

Macao Heads to Compete in 21st World University Games
An 83-member Macao sports delegation is heading to compete at the 21st World University Games in Beijing.

Edmund Ho Hau Wah, chief executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region, conveyed the team flag to the delegation here on Friday.

He said that the event is "of special significance" as this will be the first time for the Macao athletes to participate a world sports event in the title of "Macao, China " since the region returned to the motherland at the end of 1999.

The athletes will take part in six out of the 12 competing events including track and field, swimming and table tennis, according to authorities from the Macao Sports Development Board here.
