APEC Sub-Committee on Customs Procedures Meeting Held in Shanghai

The three-day Second Session of the 2001 APEC Sub-Committee on Customs Procedures (SCCP) closed Friday in Shanghai.

The meeting, hosted by the General Administration of Customs of China, was aimed to consolidate and develop the achievements by the SCCP through the efforts of all member economies, reinforce cooperation and exchange among all member customs, and promote the simplification and efficiency of customs procedures, so as to contribute to Asia-Pacific economic growth and social development.

Founded in 1994, the SCCP is a special institution for APEC members to discuss the simplification and coordination of customs procedures, with the goal of promoting the progress of freedom of trade and investment in the Asian-Pacific region.

The China Customs participated in all SCCP meetings and technological support activities, which helped promote the establishment and modernization of China's customs system, especially the establishment of a customs risk management system.
