Olympia Satellite to Be LaunchedChina Youth Development Foundation and Tsinghua Satellite Technology Holding Co., Ltd. recently announced that China will launch its first satellite specializing in serving scientific activities of children and youth next year. Aerospace experts said that the satellite, called "Olympia satellite," consists of a main and a auxiliary satellite, one for telecommunications and the other for observation, according to the latest Beijing Review.The Tsinghua Satellite Technology Holding Co., Ltd. planned to launch a testing small satellite at the end of this year. In order to make full use of the information supplied by it, the company decided to donate this satellite to the China Youth Development Foundation that will sponsor scientific activities via it. Then the company decided to design another observatory satellite for youth. These two satellites will be launched by the same rocket. The China Youth Development Foundation said that "Olympia" will be part of the satellites' names. And their full names will be confirmed by children and youth all over the country. |
