Indoor Car Market Opens in Northeast China

A large car sales market opened Thursday in Shenyang, capital of northeast China's Liaoning Province.

The market, also named China Auto City, is able to offer services and facilities for car trade, auto maintenance, and other business.

It also has a car trade hall, which can hold 500 cars and is the largest indoor car market in the country.

China Auto City, occupying an area of 450,000 square meters with an investment of 400 million yuan (48 million U.S. dollars), also serves as a place for meetings and exhibitions.

Shenyang has established cooperation with some of the world's top automobile manufacturers, such as General Motors, Mitsubishi, and Toyota, and has been improving product quality with imported technology and machinery.

The auto industry in China has been a major issue in the World Trade Organization negotiations, and China plans to restructure its 13 major automobile manufacturers into three or four groups, official sources said.
