Participants Enjoy Life in Universiade Athletes' Village

Though they arrived in Beijing less than 24 hours ago, athletes, coaches and officials from abroad have been deeply impressed by the Universiade athletes village and the efficient work of the Beijing Organizing Committee.

"The village is like something I've never seen anywhere, the facilities are good and the food is nice," said Francas Maleka, president of the South African Student Sports Union.

"We're very happy to be here. I hope that we can extend our stay in Beijing for the next week."

Like Maleka, other athletes and officials also heaped praises on the village and the work by the organizers.

"The organizing committee is efficient and I'm very impressed," said Judoka Huang Shiya.

"The village is fantastic," Portuguese coach Caetano Nuno said. "It's well constructed and I like it very much."

In the eyes of those who have rich Universiade experiences, the 21st Universiade athletes' village is modern and well-organized.

"According to me, the facilities are the best," said Marian

Dymalski, vice-president of the Polish Student Sports Association, who have participated in the 1995 and 1999 University Games.

"The dining hall, medical center and dormitories are all very good," Dymalski added.
