Ericsson, Haier Join Hands to Develop Bluetooth AppliancesThe Ericsson company in China declared recently it will cooperate with the Shandong-based Haier Group to develop home electrical appliances using bluetooth technology.Bluetooth technology uses low-power radio waves to eliminate the usual tangle of wires and cables. It was initially used in printers, keyboards, computers and some cellular phones, and has gradually been applied to home appliances and other electronic devices. If equipped with this technology, all home appliances such as refrigerators and even televisions could be manipulated with a single remote control device. Named after Harald Bluetooth, a 10th century Viking king of Denmark, bluetooth technology was first developed by the Swedish technology group Ericsson in 1994. Ericsson's cooperation with Haier, a well-known home appliances giant, will accelerate the application of bluetooth technology in the home appliances industry, experts said. |
